I crossed the 700 posts mark this week, which somehow amazes me far more than the 500 or the 600 did. And yet, though I saw it approach, and thought about writing about the number on the day it was that number, another topic took precedence.
It's kind of nice that life works that way, actually, that most of the time, things move so quickly that there is little time to dwell on any one thing. It keeps our mind and our eyes open. It makes the unpleasant dissipate quickly, and the pleasant move us forward. While it may make it trickier to commemorate things, it keeps us active day to day. While what we HAVE done might be important and significant, and worthy of celebration, what we ARE doing or TRYING to do or HOPING to do moves us forward. The "have done" might give us strength and inspiration, but the "doing" keeps us from getting stuck in our past.
So, while I celebrate 700, I am kind of happy that I am doing it a little past 700. Because life goes on. Even when (or perhaps ESPECIALLY when) you're not washed up yet.
